MP43 MG. Cal. 7.92x33 Kurz. S# 3859g. Bbl. 16.5". Mfg. 1944. This is the holy grail for some collectors, considered the forerunner of the MP44, the first true modern Assault Rifle. Chambered in 7.92x33mm, this allowed the standard German cal. to remain 8mm while at the same time adopting a medium range load. Select fire, allowing semi or full auto fire w/ the simplicity of sliding the switch above the safety. This rifle utilized both metal stampings & machined parts to minimize production cost and time. Hooded fixed blade front sight. Ladder rear sight graduated to 800 meters. Circular mag. release emboldened w/ ring pattern. Checkered cross block selector switch "E/D". Top folding dust cover over ejection port on right side. Left side reciprocating charging handle. Several parts w/ number matching receiver including trigger group, mag. well, stock, bolt, bolt carrier & op-rod. There are several stampings throughout the gun as is common of any German Military firearm of this era. Markings include; left side receiver, in bolt channel “MP43”, left side trigger group Waffenamt marked w/ “WaA21”, Receiver bottom, below front trunnion, “COS”, the German eagle w/ “WaA444 / COS”, German eagle w/ party symbol, and another above “37”. Left side of trigger also has the “37” below eagle. Thin brown leather sling, appearing to be original, on right side. MAGS: 2 steel 30 rd. 1 Marked “fxo” (C.G Haenel mfg.) on right & MKb 42 / MP43” on left. The other mag marked “bte” (Frankische Eisenwerke AG mfg.) on right & “MP44” on left. CONDITION: original finish remains heaviest on receiver & trigger group, thinning on high spots. Handguard, barrel, stock metal & magazines have thinned greatly blending to a mixture of fine patina throughout. Fxo magazine appears fully functional though floorplate is sharp at front & bte magazine is just the body, missing the floorplate, spring & follower. Fire control mechanism is smooth & appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. Bore is quite bright, retaining strong rifling. NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT MG REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. FULLY TRANSFERABLE. (03-1611/JZ). CURIO CLASS III. $20,000-30,000.
