SUBMACHINE GUN. Cal. 9mm. S# 0055. Bbl. 8". The STEN was the standard SMG of the British armed forces during WWII & remained in service until the late 1950s. A simple select-fire, open bolt, blowback operated design with a very slow cyclic rate, & few moving parts. It has unique silhouette and is easily recognizable due to its left side magazine placement, directly across from the ejection port. Selector is located in front of trigger, marked w/ "A" for full auto and an "R" for semiautomatic fire. This particular example is a desirable, MK5 version, which differs from the more common MKII by utilizing a wooden shoulder stock & pistol grip. Barrel terminates w/ a 2-lug muzzle. Front sight consists of a drift adjustable protected blade. Rear sight is a traditional fixed peep. Uniform flat black painted finish. Magazine well retains stamping "STEN MKV" on top, w/ "M78 / RTL" on bottom. Receiver tube is marked "RW URICH / ALLENTOWN PA " w/ serial number on left side. Brass butt plate on stock w/ trap door. MAGS: 1 steel 30 rd. w/ mag loader. CONDITION: uniform, flat black painted finish w/ some faint signs of use. Wood furniture in very nice condition, demonstrating a few period typical impressions. Bright bore w/ strong rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT SMG REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. FULLY TRANSFERABLE. (03-1903/JZ). MODERN CLASS III. $8,000-12,000
