1928A1 THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN, C&R. Cal. 45 ACP. S# S-234572. Bbl. 10 1/2". Classic Thompson SMG US Model 1928 A1 mfg. by Auto-Ordnance in Bridgeport, CT. 28 Rib finned bbl. Terminated w/ Cutts compensator marked w/ Thompson bullet logo, Cutts logo, "Auto-Ordnance Corporation" & patent dates. Vertical pistol grip wood fore arm. Front blade sight integral w/ compensator & rear is adj. Lyman graduated sight. Hardwood, rear stock w/ trapdoor buttplate. Sling swivels at 6-O'clock at rear & on left side on front, currently sporting tan canvas sling. Slotted & knurled, top mounted cocking knob. Blued finish on exposed metal surfaces. Left side receiver markings are as follows: Inspectors marks "GEG" & "RLL" indicating that it was inspected by George E. Goll, Auto-Ordnance's chief inspector & Army Inspector of Ordnance Ray L. Bowlin. "U.S. Model of 1928 A1", "Thompson Submachine Gun", "Calibre 45 Automatic Cartridge" as well as the serial number, w/ the "NAC" suffix, not included in the database SN. Right side markings include patent block on rear of receiver & "Auto-Ordnance Corporation", "Bridgeport Connecticut, U.S.A.". Trigger frame serial number "S-234572" also w/ the "NAC" suffex, matching receiver. MAGS: 3 Seymour 30 rd. & 1 United Specialties Company marked 50 rd drum. CONDITION: finish on exposed metal surfaces complete & consistent, w/ some thinning on high spots & in areas of mechanical intervention w/ a few light drag lines usually associated w/ rack storage. All original markings are easy to read w/ the exception of some uneven inspectors marks as normal, & attractively filled in white for a nice contrast. Wood furniture is matching in finish and has a few period typical depressions. Bright bore w/ visible rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand.
