MACHINE GUN. Cal. 8mm (Lebel). S# 128164. Bbl. 18". Blade front sight. V-notch rear sight graduated to 2000m. Visible numbered parts are matching. The Chauchat was an early light machine gun used by the French & Americans during WW1 & other conflicts after. It is notable as being one of the first man portable rifle caliber machine guns. "C.S.R.G." (Chauchat, Sutter, Ribeyrolles, and Gladiator) marked receiver. Gun lacks balle "N" & Finnish "SA" markings, possibly a Doughboy bringback. Blued finish. Hardwood stock, pistol grip & foregrip. Folding bipod present with right leg appearing to be a replacement due to having a grey paint finish & left having a green paint finish. Bipod lockup is loose when folded down. MAGS: 3-20 rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: front & rear AA sights & mag box that holds two mags. CONDITION: furniture has arsenal refinish appearance with scattered dings, abrasions & handling marks but is otherwise sturdy & serviceable. Metal is turning to a gray patina with scattered light oxidation, strong traces of arsenal blue, operational wear, some pitting heavier on bipod legs, disassembly wear & a few light dings. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Bright near excellent bore. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT CURIO & RELIC REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. FULLY TRANSFERABLE. (03-2070/MJC). CURIO. CLASS III. $6000-9000.
