LONG TANG ROUND KNOB BROWNING SUPERPOSED FIELD SHOTGUN. Cal. 20 Ga. 3" chambers. S# 13897 (1958). The 28" demi-block barrels with narrow matted ventilated rib are marked for modified and full chokes. Browning St. Louis address is the only one present along with chamber info, patents and "MADE IN BELGIUM". Coin finished small sized O/U action with gold plated single selective trigger is engraved in usual Diana style with large scrolling strap work and acanthus designs surrounding game scenes on sides. A group of five pheasant in open meadow on left and four ducks; two taking wing while two others remain in woodland pond, on right. A pair of quail fly across bottom of action and two hares are on trigger guard bow. Engraver's signature "Funken" is on rock at bottom center of pheasant scene. No other signatures or initials are found. Long tang round knob buttstock made of very nicely veined and lightly figured European walnut measures 14" over brown Old English pad. Usual point pattern checkering extends over top of grip and a vacant gold oval is on toeline. Captive field forend matches well. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: O .623. U .619. Restriction: O .030 (Full). U .016 (Mod). Wall thickness: O .042. U .042. STOCK: DAH: 2-5/16". DAC: 1-9/16". CAST: slightly off. LOP: 14". WEIGHT: 6 lb. 12 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: guns comes with a black plastic carrying case lined in blue cloth. CONDITION: fine as refinished. Barrels retaining nearly all re-black; action with renewed coin finish; stocks with renewed oil finish; checkering compenantly re-cut. Gun exhibits subsequent poor storage with spots of rusting mostly on left side of top barrel, right side of action and on left side of locking lump. Light cleaning shows improvement, a good cleaning should help. Bores are bright and shiny. Action shows just a hint of looseness. Mechanically good. Case is good with rust stains in interior.
