Cal. 12 Ga. 2-1/2". S# 2333. The 31-1/2" two stripe damascus barrels are engraved "G O'C Holloway & Co Makers 28, Norfolk St. London" on unmated panel on flat narrow pigeon rib. Tops of barrels are engraved "Modified Choke" on right and "Full Choke" on left along with "PIGEON" "GUN". Barrel flats are stamped with Birmingham black powder proofs for 12 Ga. Case hardened square back, back spring sidelock action features automatic safety ("SAFE" inlaid in gold), crossbolt third fastener and double triggers. Action is engraved with sprays of well cut shaded scroll with some blossom highlights. Maker's name and London address are at the front of each lockplate. Blued trigger guard with matching scroll on bow has S# on tang. Dramatically stump figured and marbled European walnut round knob buttstock measures 15" over black Old English pad. Point pattern checkering is at grip and a vacant silver oval is on toeline. Matching splinter forend with inlet horn tip has Deeley release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .732. R .734. Restriction: L .042 (xtra full). R .045 (xtra full). Wall thickness: L .032. R .034. STOCK: DAH: 2-1/4". DAC: 1-1/2". CAST: about 1/2" off. LOP: 15". WEIGHT: 8 lb. 2 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun is housed in vintage leather case with brass corners, lined in blue cloth. Interior has been expertly configured for this gun and contains cleaning equipment, square oil bottle and a pair of snap caps. CONDITION: good as mostly refinished. Barrels retaining nearly all of a chocolate colored re-brown with good definition to pattern. Action shows light cleaning to silver and with remnants of original case hardening color where protected. Stocks have nearly all of a fairly shiny refinish with some subsequent marks. Checkering is fairly well re-cut. Bores are shiny showing some light frosting throughout. There is evidence of dent removal in left barrel about 18" from muzzle. Action is tight with just a hint of a wobble felt at hook. Barrels are on face. Mechanically good. Case leather is dark with some lighter tan highlights and a plethora of marks. Replaced straps are good. Original handle shows repairs and is a bit tender. Replaced interior cloth is fine. Accessories are good. A pretty cool old target gun. (01-25961/MGM). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
