This lot consists of four items relating to General William Westmoreland, the famed commander of US forces in Vietnam from 1964 until 1968. 1. Westmoreland Signed US Army Field Cap. Hot weather US Army field cap size 7 1/8. Brim of hat has faint Westmoreland signature. Crown of hat has Master Parachutist Jump Wings & four star General pin. CONDITION: band shows some crazing, tags have staining & black ink across them. 2. Framed Westmoreland Lot. Frame measures 16" length & 12" in width. Frame has six items: signed photo of the General in uniform, a cloth name tag, a MACV (Military Assistance Command Vietnam) patch, a signed letter from the General dated June 23rd 1966, a signed note on the retired General's stationary & a photo of the General as an older man. CONDITION: frame shows some separation around the edges, scattered staining & light dents. 3. General Westmoreland Tunic. Tunic has two four star collar tabs, a right shoulder 187th Airborne patch, a left shoulder MACV patch, the General's name tag, a combat infantryman patch & two airborne patches. CONDITION: inside tags were removed at some point, tunic otherwise shows some dust staining. 4. Westmoreland Field Jacket. US Army field jacket w/ two four star collar tabs, a right shoulder 187th Airborne patch, a left shoulder MACV patch, the General's name tag, a combat infantryman patch, a US Army patch & two airborne patches. No tags present on inside of jacket. CONDITION: patches show scattered fading & jacket shows some light staining. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18681/MJC). $2000-3000
