HAMMER DRILLING. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 5/8". / appears to be 9.3x57R. S# 31071. This German drilling was mfg. by J. P. Sauer & Sohn with the name "CHARLES DALY" on the locks for American sales by Shoverling, Daly & Gales. The time period for this drilling's mfg. is between 1895-1914. The Fine Damascus 29 1/4" bbls. with matted rib, blade front sight & flip-up rear sight. Shotgun bores appears to measure Full & Mod. The sculpted round body has back action hammer locks with light acanthus scroll engraving. Dbl. triggers, extractors & rifle activated top lever. Walnut splinter forearm & pistol grip buttstock. LOP: 12 7/8" to hard rubber buttplate. CONDITION: barrels & metal have gray/brown patina appearance with spots of peppery oxidation & marks. Fair worn wood finish with brake at wrist of buttstock, scattered gouges & handling marks. Smooth bores show light pitting, some shine & couple of dents. Rifled bore shows distinct rifling & light pitting. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Nicholas Apergis. (25-3971/MD). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
