Cal. 8.15x47R. S# 22. The 31" heavy octagon barrel has matted top flat which has expanded area toward rear for attaching dovetailed barrel sights. Case hardened Martini action with removable firing group is engraved with panels of large open flowing acanthus. No maker's name is present. S# appears on operating lever and original windage and elevation adjustable tang sight. Offhand buttstock of lightly fiddle figured European walnut has heavy hooked buttplate and swept right hand cheekpiece. Grip is checkered. Matching schnabled forend attaches to barrel with side bolt. Bottom of barrel under forend is stamped with BUG proofs and 5/27 proof date. CONDITION: very good. Metal with most original finishes and a large amount of rust staining and some light pitting. Stocks retain most of their original finish with many marks. Bore is good; considerably frosted. Mechanically good. (23-5340/MGM). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
