Cal. 8.15X46R. S# NSN. Bbl. 32 1/4". Octagon barrel is removed from rifle by a lever in the forend. Barrel is marked on top flat " ORIGINAL-HAENEL- ERSATZLAUF/ GEFERTIGT VON C.G. HAENEL, SUHL". Marked on left flat "BOHLERSTAHL". Markings on bottom include "crown B U G" "7.7 mm" and "2/31". The barrel is likely a replacement in 1931. The action is a dropping block and has numerous German proofs on the right side. The borders of the receiver have been lightly engraved. The original sights have been removed leaving only the bases at the tang and muzzle. Opening lever with finger hook has a horn pad for the palm of the hand. The walnut stock set has floral raised carving,checkered grip and stippled thumb rest. The right side of the butt has a small inletted metal tag "H. Leunig". Alloy prong buttplate appears to be replacement. CONDITION: stock set has extensive thinning, wear & handling marks. Checkering is flattened w/ missing diamonds. Small crack on the left forward edge of the grip. Metal is well-worn, turning gray & patina w/ spots of fine pitting. Front sight base shows tool marks. Shiny bore w/ lightly worn lands.
