Cal. 8.15x46R. NSN. Bbl 34 1/4". Schuetzen rifle produced by L. Hechelmann in Lindau, Germany. The right flat of the octagonal bbl. is marked "L. Hechelmann" at the breech, with "Lindau J/B." on the left. Right side of receiver and breechblock are stamped with an Imperial eagle above a Crown/B commercial proof. Left side of breech block with "D.R.G.M." patent number. Receiver, lever, and buttplate exhibit a case color hardened finish, with the bbl. exhibiting a blued finish. Checkered walnut buttstock featuring a large Tyrolean cheek piece and a Schuetzen pattern buttplate, with a smooth walnut forearm. Dovetailed ramped ivory beaded blade front sight with large tang mounted aperture disc rear sight. Double set triggers. CONDITION: frame, lever, and buttplate retain traces of their original case color hardened finish, with the balance exhibiting a mottled brown patina overall. Bbl. retains bountiful amounts of its blue finish, exhibiting scattered spots of pitting overall, that is especially prevalent beneath the wood line. Very bright bore, exhibiting some light pitting and well defined rifling throughout. Wood furniture shows some scattered marks and a few minor impressions from storage and handling, but is otherwise sturdy and serviceable. (23-4714/MLW). CURIO. $800-1,200.
