NATIONALE MODEL 1922 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 7.65mm. S# 4915b. Bbl. 4 7/16". Model 1922 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Fabrique Nationale while under German occupation between May to December of 1943. Left side of the slide is marked "(H)", followed by "FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES DE GUERRE HERSTAL BELGIQUE/ BROWNING'S PATENT DEPOSE", as well as with an eagle firing proof (repeated on left side of frame and right side of bbl.) and an Eagle/WaA140 proof. Left side of the forward trigger guard web is marked "MR". Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bbl., which is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece FN monogram checkered brown synthetic grips. Standard fixed half-moon blade front sight on slide extension and dovetailed V-notch rear sight on slide. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide (interior), slide extension, and bbl. Mag. is absent. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting mild edge wear, a few areas of wear fading to gray patina (most notably on the sides of the slide extension), with a couple of scattered spots of light pitting. Front grip strap shows some mild thinning, with a spot of mild surface oxidation. Rear strap exhibits wear and thinning with scattered spots of light oxidation and pitting. Heel mag. release show some spots of moderate pitting towards the base. Bright bore, exhibiting consistent light pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show some superficial marks and smoothing to the diamonds, but otherwise remain sound. PROVENANCE: From the Lifetime Collection of Malcolm Zickler, Ret. USAF Lt. Col. (26-569/MLW).
