PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 86966. Bbl. 4 5/8". High Power semi-automatic pistol mfg. in Belgium by Fabrique Nationale while under German occupation during World War II. Left side of slide is marked "FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES DE GUERRE/ HERSTAL BELGIQUE" above "BROWNING'S PATENT DEPOSE", as well as an Eagle/WaA103 acceptance proof and an eagle firing proof, which are also present on the left side of the frame. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bbl., which is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Blade front sight with tangent rear sight graduated from 50-500. All numbers are matching and include the frame, slide, and bbl. MAGS: one 13-rd. mag. with split toe floorplate, marked with a partially discernible Eagle/WaA613 proof on the spine. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting mild edge wear and some scattered superficial handling marks overall. Grip straps exhibit wear and thinning that show through to a gray patina. Bright bore, exhibiting pitting and some grease, while retaining well-defined rifling throughout. Grips show mild smoothing, as well as some minor marks from handling and storage but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. PROVENANCE: from the estate collection of Charles Wagner. (24-4658/MLW).
