SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 7.65mm. S# 99815b. Bbl. 4 1/2". Model 1922 semi-automatic pistol, mfg. in Belgium by Fabrique Nationale while under German occupation for commercial sales circa 1942-1944. The left side of the slide is stamped with the usual "(H)", followed by FN's mfg. information above an Eagle/N commercial nitro proof, indicating mfg. for commercial sales. Eagle/N commercial nitro proof is also present on the frame and bbl. Rear of frame is marked with an unidentified proof, which is present on all German occupation production 1922 pistols. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece "FN" monogram checkered black hard rubber grips. Half-moon blade front sight, with V-notch rear sight. Full S# "99815b" is marked on the slide, with "9815b" present on the frame, slide extension, and bbl. MAGS: one 9-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some areas of light wear and thinning, as well as some superficial handling marks overall. Bottom edge of rear grip strap spur exhibits wear through to gray patina and some light pitting. Very bright bore, exhibiting light surface-level pitting (with two concentrated small spots of dark pitting), while retaining well-defined rifling throughout. Grips show some smoothing as well as some superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. A nice example of a German occupation commercial production FN Model 1922. PROVENANCE: from the estate collection of Charles Wagner. (24-4650/MLW). CURIO. $500-800.
