SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 8183n. Bbl. 5 1/8". Model 1912 Steyr-Hahn semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Steyr in 1916, accepted into Austrian military service in 1916, and subsequently reworked to 9x19mm Parabellum for German police use. Left side of the slide is stamped "08" (denoting conversion to 9x19mm), followed by the S# and "STEYR 1916". Left side of the frame is marked with the S#, followed by a German Eagle/N commercial nitro proof, with a partially discernible and unidentified "92/HI" ("HI" characters are illegible), followed by a German police Eagle/L proof, and an Austrian "W-n (AUSTRIAN EAGLE) 16" military acceptance proof on the right. Metal components exhibit a period (more than likely arsenal) reapplied blue finish overall, with the bbl. trigger, and hammer being polished in-the-white. Extractor exhibits a straw finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Dovetailed blade front sight, with fixed V-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, and bbl. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather holster containing 1 8-rd. stripper clip of Canadian 9x19mm ammunition. CONDITION: good, with metal components retaining large amounts of their period reapplied blue finish, exhibiting areas of light to mild wear and thinning that show through to gray and brown patinas, as well as scattered spots of light surface oxidation and pitting overall. In-the-white parts show scattered spots of age related discoloration and pitting. Bore is bright, exhibiting consistent moderate pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show some smoothing, as well as some scattered superficial handling marks, with the left panel exhibiting a chip at the bottom of the grip screw slot. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting wear, with scattered areas of light to mild age related cracking and crazing overall. (24-6848/MLW). CURIO. $800-1,200.
