Cal. 22 LR. S# 6227 (on face of action, forend removed). This good quality dropping block target rifle has been rebarreled w/ 26 3/8" rnd. bbl. which has been fitted w/ scope mounting blocks & what looks like an old Winchester scope in Micrometer mounts. Case hardened action w/ removable dbl. set trigger group has German patent marking on right side of breech block. Action is engraved w/ 80% coverage of very lg. open acanthus scroll w/ punch dot background as counter point to images of a dancing crane & stylized north wind on left side w/ repeated north wind on right in addition to a coiled snake. Scheutzen style stock of relatively plain European walnut has lg. dished out right hand cheekpiece. A thumb rest is on right side of checkered grip. Stock measures 13" over heavy steel helm type buttplate. Matching uncheckered schnabled forend attaches to bbl. w/ side bolt through oval steel escutcheons. CONDITION: bbl. retaining over 90% of its shiny blue, action retains most of its case hardening color. Stocks retain nearly all of what appears to be their original finish w/ a good number of light marks, checkering lightly worn & dirty. There are some chips missing from edge of thumb rest. Scope retains most of its original blue, optically good a bit clouded. Bore bright & shiny. Set triggers work. (21-2923/MGM). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
