Cal. 11x60mm (11mm Mauser). S# 1882. Bbl. 31 5/8". Blade front sight and ladder rear sight, gradated to 1500m; bolt parts are mismatched, but other visible numbers are all matching to the receiver. Bbl. has Spandau and various Imperial German inspectors markings. Left side of the receiver has the "IG Mod. 71/84" Gothic marking. Right rear of the receiver has a date of 1882. Buttplate has "3.G.G.R/E.2.30." unit marking for the replacement battalion of the 3rd Guards Grenadier regiment. Commercial reblue finish. Walnut stock with bottom metal sling swivels. Right side of the butt has partially faded Imperial inspection stamps. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 71/84 muzzle cover with Bavarian unit marking that reads "BLR 13.58." CONDITION: stock appears lightly sanded with added oil finish, a few cracks on the underside of the forend behind the mag. cap, a few putty filler repairs, scattered dings, and scratches. Metal retains nearly all of its commercial reblue, with scattered blued-over pitting, some light oxidation, and edge wear. Mag. cutoff lever is not engaging, but action otherwise functions properly when hand-cycled. Bore is bright with strong rifling but shows some light pitting. (01-26099/MJC). ANTIQUE. $600-800.
