MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 11mm Mauser. S# 372. All visible numbers match. Bbl. 31 3/4". Fine example of the Model 71/84 Mauser repeating rifle adopted by Germany in 1884 & was an improvement on the earlier single shot Model 71 Mauser by the addition of an 8 rd tubular magazine in the forend. Ladder rear sight graduated to 1600 meters. Inverted V front sight. Receiver is marked on the left side w/ “J.G.Mod.”, “71/84” & marked on right side of receiver “1888”. Stacking bar is present. Walnut stock marked on right side of butt w/ crown “W” & crown “3”. Marked underneath at belly w/ crown acceptance marks. CONDITION: stock has very light wear & scattered handling marks throughout w/ crisp markings. Bright receiver & bolt turning dull & gray. Balance of metal retains 85% blue w/ light wear & scattered small spots of oxidation. Very good shiny bore. (01-22731/RW). ANTIQUE. $700-900.
