BRAUNSCHWEIG. Cal. 16 Ga. x 16 Ga. / 8x72R. S# 148 (172.28 = #172 gun proofed 1928). The Witten steel 27 7/8" bbls. have checkered matted rib holding blade front sight, pop up rear sight & claw mounts. Rib engraved with banner marked "G. L. RASCH BRAUNSCHWEIG". 16 Ga. Chambers appear to be reamed for 2 3/4" shells. Bbls. are retained by pin in forearm nosecap. Underlever action has checker pattern engraving. Underlever tip & triggerguard bow appear to be made of horn. Action features dbl. triggers, shotgun/rifle bore switch on forward right side trigger guard, extractors & safety switch on top tang. Checkered walnut forearm & pistol grip stock with left side cheekpiece, swivel on toeline, & horn grip cap. Peek of buttstock has cartridge trap with checkered engraving along with circular medallion featuring crown over script "B". LOP: 13 1/2" to checkered horn buttplate. CONDITION: good to very good blue with light wear & scattered spots of peppery oxidation. Action has gray appearance w/ patina. Good wood finish w/ numerous light scratches, marks, worn finish on left side buttstock, wear to checkering & 2" grain stress crack on right side of buttstock. Good to very good shiny bores with light pitting. (23-5762/MD). CURIO. $800-1,200.
