P.08 LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 9449u. Bbl. 4". P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser for the German military in 1941. Top of the bbl. extension is marked with the 2-digit year of mfg "41", with Mauser Eagle/659 proofs marked on the right. Toggle is marked with Mauser's "byf" mfg. code. Right side of the frame is marked with boxed "18" and "20" proofs pressure and poundage test proofs (these marks were applied at the factory and on random P.08s in the production line). Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall. Mag. release spring is a nitre blued replacement. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Dovetailed blade front sight, with fixed V-notch rear sight. Most numbers are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, bbl., bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, as well as the toggles. Left grip screw appears to be a contemporary replacement. MAGS: 1 blued non-matching 8-rd., with aluminum bottom. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some light wear, some superficial handling marks, as well as some areas of light pitting beneath the finish. Bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots of dark pitting and spots of grease, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show moderate smoothing, as well as some impressions from handling and storage, with the right panel exhibiting a crack that stems from the grip screw area.
