SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 5061w. Bbl. 4 7/8". P.38 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Spreewerke during World War II. Left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by Spreewerke's "cyq" mfg. code and the S#, with a starburst rework (likely for out of spec. parts), 2 Spreewerke Eagle/88 proofs, and an eagle firing proof marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a dull blue military finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved wood grips, with the left panel being comprised of pressed resin, and the right panel appearing to have been made from a brown synthetic material. Dovetailed blade front sight, with U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: 1 unmarked blued 8-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some areas of light to mild wear and thinning, some superficial handling marks, as well as a few scattered spots of light to mild oxidation and pitting. Front grip strap and underside of the trigger guard exhibit wear through to gray patina. Very bright bore, exhibiting some light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show some superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (24-7208/MLW). CURIO. $700-1,000.
