MILITARY RIFLE Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 3005HH. Serial numbers match on barrel, bolt, bolt shroud & cocking piece, rear sight leaf & tangent base. The receivers were not serial numbered at this point in production. Bbl. 23 5/8". Tangent rear sight graduated to 2000 meters. Inverted V front sight with protective hood. Scarce double suffix serial number made at the Waag Bystritz / Werk II in Slovakia. Receiver marked on top "dou." "44" and "eagle 80". Left receiver rail marked "Mod. 98". Bolt handle has illegible "eagle" underneath. Plum colored extractor and bolt stop spring. GP bbl. code, also marked “dou” & 2 eagle 80s. Follower with marking on top appears to be “lxp”. Bayonet bar is present & drill for cleaning rod however the stock was never drilled. Unnumbered stamped & welded upper & lower bands retained by single spring. Correct WWII vintage brown leather sling. Laminated stock set. Stock marked on inside of bbl. channel “phm” “8” & outside of stock is unmarked. Cut tight buttplate w/out maker code. Steel disassembly disk. CONDITION: stock is in very good condition w/ thin wartime finish & light staining. Metal retains large degree of original finish w/ very light wear leaving sharp legible markings. Buttplate & disassembly disk turning gray & patina. Upper band has notable patina.
