SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 6248m. Bbl. 4". P.08 Luger mfg. by DWM under contract for the Imperial German military during World War I. The bbl. extension is marked "1916" over the chamber, with DWM arsenal proofs marked on the right. Toggle is marked with the intertwined "DWM" monogram. Major metal components exhibit a rust blue finish, with some smaller parts showing either a straw or nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Right grip screwhead has broken into two pieces, with only one half remaining. Frame exhibits several impressions and marks on the interior and exterior of the front grip strap, which appear to be repaired. All numbers are matching, save for the mag. MAGS: one 8-rd. with wood bottom. CONDITION: major metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting scattered areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, as well as some scattered spots of surface oxidation and light pitting overall. Front grip strap exhibits an area of gray patina that is a result of the aforementioned repair. Strawed components exhibit varying degrees of wear that show through to gray patina and scattered spots of age-related discoloration. Bore is bright, exhibiting consistent mild surface oxidation while retaining good rifling throughout. Grips show smoothing as well as scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. Left grip panel shows an impression at the same area of the frame repair. (24-4737/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
