SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Para. S# 6742e. Bbl. 4". P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by DWM under contract for the Imperial German military during WWI. The bbl. extension is marked "1916" over the chamber, with DWM arsenal proofs marked on the right. Toggle is marked with the intertwined "DWM" monogram. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Matching numbers are present on the frame, takedown lever, trigger, safety lever & bar, bbl., bbl. extension, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, as well as the toggles. MAGS: one 8-rd. with wood bottom. CONDITION: metal components retain traces of their original arsenal blue finish, with the balance exhibiting a mottled gray patina and pitting overall. Mag. release button (and rear bottom right edge of frame) exhibits what appears to be red paint, which has dripped into the mag. well. Dark pitted bore, retaining fair rifling throughout. Grips show smoothing as well as scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. Left panel exhibits a chip to the rear of the safety lever. Interior of right panel exhibits an area of tape, likely for a better fit to the frame. Mag. bottom exhibits several chips and cracks and is glued into the bottom of the mag body. (24-4112/MLW). CURIO. $400-600.
