SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 1275g. Bbl. 7 7/8". LP.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by DWM under contract for the Imperial German military during WWI. The bbl. extension is marked "1917" over the chamber, with DWM arsenal proofs marked on the right. Toggle is marked with the intertwined "DWM" monogram. Major metal components exhibit a rust blue finish, with some possible touch up on the grip straps. Some small parts exhibit either a strawed or nitre blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Serrated blade front sight, with adj. V-notch tangent rear sight graduated 1-8. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl., rear sight assembly, bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, firing pin, toggles, as well as the grips. Extractor is a poorly fit replacement, renumbered to match. Safety bar and rear sight assembly have possibly been renumbered to match at one time. MAGS: 1 non-matching (S# "1371") tinned 8-rd. with wood plug. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their period arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some spots of light to mild edge wear, areas of light surface oxidation, as well as some spots of light to mild pitting. Strawed parts show some areas of wear fading to gray patina, with some scattered spots of age related discoloration. Very bright bore, exhibiting streaks of light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show some smoothing, as well as some superficial marks from handling and storage, but are otherwise very good overall. (25-4251/MLW). CURIO. $1,000-2,000.
