SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 7858e. Bbl. 4". P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by DWM under contract for the German military during WWI. The bbl. extension is marked "1918" over the top of the chamber, with DWM arsenal proofs marked on the right. Toggle is marked with the intertwined "DWM" monogram. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall, with small parts exhibiting a reheated straw finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece reproduction checkered wood grips. Replacement bbl. is fitted with a replacement blade front sight with standard V-notch rear sight. Nearly all numbers are matching, with many small parts, including the bbl. having been or appearing to have been renumbered to match at one time. MAGS: 1 8-rd. Mag. body has been reblued and fitted with a reproduction navy pattern wood plug, which has been numbered to match. CONDITION: metal components retain bountiful amounts of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting scattered spots/areas of light to mild pitting beneath the finish overall. Frame exhibits moderate pitting beneath the grips. Strawed parts retain the vast majority of their reheated finish. Very bright bore, exhibiting what appears to be consistent light pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Action functions appropriately when cycled by hand. Grips show light smoothing and some light superficial handling marks, but otherwise present nicely. (25-2656/MLW). CURIO. $600-900.
