PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 7.65mm. S# 279542. Bbl. 3 3/8". Model 38H semi-automatic pistol mfg. by J.P. Sauer & Sohn. Left side of the slide is marked "J.P. SAUER & SOHN SUHL" above "CAL. 7,65", with "PATENT" marked on the right. Left side of the forward trigger guard web is marked with an Eagle/37 military acceptance proof. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered black synthetic grips, with the left panel featuring an encircled "SUS" monogram logo. Solid matte grooved rib with integral blade front sight and dovetailed U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown latch, and slide (interior). MAGS: x2 8-rd. mags. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather holster marked "GENSCHOW & Co. A-G/ 1940/ BERLIN" below the closure flap strap. Closure flap strap is marked with an Eagle/WaA286 proof. Interior of holster is marked "DEJAN" in black ink. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting scattered spots and areas of wear and thinning fading to gray patina, a couple of spots of finish flaking (grip straps), as well as some small scattered spots of light to mild pitting on the slide. Very bright bore, exhibiting streaks of light pitting, while retaining fair to good rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics, to include the decocking lever. Grips show some light to mild smoothing, as well as some minor superficial handling marks, but otherwise remain sound. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting general overall wear consisting of scattered marks from handling and storage, scattered spots of light crazing, and some age related cracking. Rear of main body exhibits a strip of moderate cracking. Closure flap stud is absent. PROVENANCE: From the Lifetime Collection of Malcolm Zickler, Ret. USAF Lt. Col. (26-543/MLW). CURIO. $300-500.
