LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 2792g. Bbl. 4". P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser during World War II. Top of bbl. extension is marked with the year of mfg. "1940", with Mauser arsenal proofs stamped on the right. Toggle is marked with Mauser's "42" mfg. code. Metal components exhibit a salt blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Nearly all numbers are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl., bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, rear toggle pin, as well as the mag. Grips are not matching, but match themselves. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray and brown patinas, with some light pitting present on and around the muzzle, and some light flecks of surface oxidation present overall. Frame exhibits moderate wear and thinning on the grip straps, that shows through to a pleasing mixture of gray and brown patinas. Bright bore, exhibiting consistent mild to moderate pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips exhibit some marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable overall. A nice example of an always desirable Mauser 1940 production P.08 Luger.
