LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 353h. Bbl. 4". Standard configuration P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser in 1940. The bbl. extension is marked with the 4-digit year of mfg. "1940" over the chamber, with Mauser Eagle/655 proofs marked on the right. Toggle is marked with Mauser's "42" mfg. code. Metal components exhibit a salt blue finish overall, save for on the ejector, which is strawed. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Serrated blade front sight with V-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl., bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, rear toggle pin, as well as the grips. MAGS: 1 blued 8-rd. marked with Eagle/37 proofs on the left. Aluminum plug has been renumbered at one time to match. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts to the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning fading to gray patina, some scattered superficial handling marks, and scattered spots/areas of light pitting. Left side of the bbl. exhibits mild pitting towards the muzzle. Rear grip strap shows wear and thinning that is fading to gray patina, with scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Bore exhibits consistent mild pitting on the lands and streaks of mild pitting in the grooves, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show mild smoothing and some scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Nicholas Apergis. (25-3969/MLW).
