SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 9621u. Bbl. 4 7/8". Standard configuration P.38 mfg. at the Mauser arsenal in 1944. Left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by Mauser's mfg. code above the 2-digit year of mfg. "byf/ 44", and the S#, with a Mauser Eagle/WaA135 acceptance proof stamped on either side of an eagle firing proof on the right. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved pressed resin grips. All numbers are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: 2 8-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather holster marked with an Eagle/WaA706 acceptance proof above "jwa/ 4" (Moritz Stecher 1944) on the rear, containing 1 spare mag. Interior of closure flap exhibits a handwritten "obgt. Kreuzen" in pen. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some light to mild wear and thinning overall. Grip strap and rear frame spur exhibit wear and thinning through to gray patina, with scattered spots of surface oxidation and age related discoloration. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting some very light surface oxidation on a few edges of the lands, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips are very good, exhibiting a few handling marks overall. Holster exhibits some mild wear, with some light surface oxidation and a couple of small patches of light crazing, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. PROVENANCE: Dr. Fred Novy, ASAC.
