SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 5714z. Bbl. 4 7/8". P.38 semi-automatic pistol mfg. at the Mauser arsenal during 1944. The left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by Mauser's mfg. code and the 2-digit year of mfg. "byf/44", as well as the S#, with Mauser Eagle/WaA135 and an eagle firing proof marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a salt blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved black Polymid 6 grips. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: one 8-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal salt blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, some scattered spots of light surface oxidation, as well as some spots/areas of mild to moderate. Very bright bore, exhibiting some areas of light to mild pitting while retaining well-defined rifling throughout. Grips show some superficial marks from handling and storage but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (24-5582/MLW). CURIO. $700-1,000.
