DRK (Deutsches Rotes Kreuz) German Red Cross Hewer. Left side of ricasso is marked "GES./ GESCHUTZT". Blade measures 10 1/2", with a total length of 15 5/8", and features a blunted tip, fuller, and sawback spine. Anodized zinc cross guard (with DRK insignia on right) and pommel. Checkered and smooth black plastic grips. Black enamel finished scabbard, with black leather frog marked "D" and "17" on the rear. CONDITION: blade exhibits scattered areas of light to mild surface oxidation overall, but otherwise is very good overall. Checkered grip panel exhibits some smoothing and some nicks to the diamonds, with the smooth grip exhibiting a sizeable loss at the bottom of the panel. Scabbard exhibits some bubbling and flaking, but otherwise is good overall. Frog exhibits a few small spots of age related cracking and crazing overall. (02-22413/MLW). $400-600.
