SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH CAPTURE PAPERWORK. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 6710y. Bbl. 4 7/8". P.38 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Spreewerke during World War II. Left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by Spreewerke's "cyq" code, and the S#, with the right side exhibiting an "88" , followed by an eagle firing proof, and a faint Eagle/88 proof. Metal components exhibit a dull blue military finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved brown bakelite grips. Dovetailed blade front sight, with dovetailed U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: 1 blued 8-rd. mag, marked "jvd" on the left side. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original capture paperwork dated November 7th of 1945, listing this pistol by S#, and indicating that it was captured by Herman F. Buerkley (Tec 4, 35873025). CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, as well as some areas of light pitting. Fair bore, exhibiting areas of dark pitting, while retaining fair rifling throughout. Grips show some superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable.
