SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 7440v. Bbl. 4 7/8". P.38 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Spreewerke during WWII. Left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by Spreewerke's "cyq" mfg. code, and the S#, with x2 Eagle/88 proofs and an eagle firing proof marked on the right. Metal components exhibit a salt blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved brown pressed resin grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and U-notch rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the frame and slide. Bbl. (S#: 5548u) and locking block (S#: 548u) are mismatched, but match each other. MAGS: x1 blued steel 8-rd., marked with an Eagle/WaA706 and "jvd" on the spine. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original salt blue finish, exhibiting some light to mild edge wear overall. Front grip strap exhibits wear and thinning that is fading to gray patina, as well as scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation. Bore is mostly bright, exhibiting consistent light to mild pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics, to include the safety / decocking lever. Grips show some superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sound. (26-2491/MLW). CURIO. $600-900.
