SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 1811j. Bbl. 4 7/8". Standard configuration P.38 semi-automatic pistol mfg. at the Walther arsenal in 1944. Left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by the S#, as well as Walther's mfg. code and the 2-digit year of mfg. "ac 44", with Eagle/359 proofs and an eagle firing proof stamped on the right. Right side of the frame exhibits an R Guns import mark. Metal components exhibit what appears to be a Russian-reapplied blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved brown pressed resin grips. Bbl. is marked with an "fnh" mfg. code and an Eagle/WaA76 proof, indicating that this is one of 8,000 bbls. supplied to Walther in 1944 that were mfg. by Bohmische Waffenfabriken Prague's Strakonice plant. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: one 8-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: plain white box. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some superficial handling marks overall. Fair bore, exhibiting dark pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show scattered marks and some minor losses from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (24-5487/MLW). CURIO. $300-500.
