HAMPSHIRE. This exceptionally attractive hand-engraved badge measures approx. 3" x 2 1/8". The badge has been professionally electronically tested and has proven to be 14k gold. The front of the badge depicts a shield with an eagle perched on the top holding a ribbon in its beak that reads "CHIEF". The shield itself has a banner at the top that reads "ROCHESTER" and another at the bottom that reads "POLICE". The center of the badge has a beautifully engraved 2-piece interlocking police belt with a baton attached. The belt surrounds the letters ".N.H." The reverse has a long "T-bar" style pin and the center is engraved "PRESENTED TO John H. Pingree MAY 26, 1886." CONDITION: badge shows nearly no wear with a few areas of attractive toning. The badge weighs 26.46 grams. (05-792/BF). $1,000-2,000.
