Cal. 7.62x51. S# 4301325. Bbl. 21 3/4" including flash suppressor. These rifles were licensed by Beretta & were assembled using mostly Beretta supplied parts & some U.S. GI parts. The receivers were originally from M1 Garands that had been de-militarized. They were welded together, gauged & tested, then re-assembled. The two-groove barrel on this rifle was from a Model 1903A3 Springfield rifle, turned and re-contoured to resemble an M1 Garand barrel & is marked on the left side under the handguard "SANTA-FE / MODEL / GOLDEN STATE ARMS CO". Utilizes the M1 Garand gas cylinder & front sight assembly. The rear sight is a standard M1 Garand locking bar sight w/ battle range elevation knob. The receiver is marked only w/ serial number at heel & carries markings on the left rear "SANTA-FE M-59 CAL. 7.62MM NATO / GOLDEN STATE ARMS CORP. PASADENA CALIF". Additionally marked on the left rail "LICENSED BY P. BERETTA GARDONI ITALY". Stripper clip guide has been added to the front of the receiver bridge. Receiver has been modified to accept the Beretta BM-59 magazine. Receiver drilled & tapped on the left rail w/ four screws, possibly for scope mount, but likely for assembly fixture. Bolt, operating rod, trigger housing & hammer marked "SA". Balance of parts markings are "PB". Operating rod has been shortened & re-contoured. Front handguard is not used in the conversion. Gas cylinder lock has integral slotted flash suppressor. Walnut stock marked "SILE" in barrel channel. Balance of the folding stock parts are standard BM-59 including the rubber buttpad & brown synthetic pistol grip. Pistol grip has storage compartment. Handguard appears to be modified brown fiberglass M14 type. MAGS: 3 detachable Beretta marked BM-59 20 round magazines. CONDITION: stock set in very good condition w/ scattered small handling marks. Side-folding feature is functional. Metal retains 75% of its lightly worn factory finish w/ notable loss of finish on the gas cylinder. Stacking swivel is not present. Very good shiny two-groove bore w/ sharp lands. (25-2298/RW). MODERN. $1,000-1,500.
