Cal. 69. NSN. The 44 3/4" round bbl. has no discernable markings at breech end. Lock has chamfered plate with teat at rear and "Charleville" lightly engraved at center. Lock features reinforced cock, inset faceted pan, bridled friction frizzen, and featherspring with bulbous finial. Walnut stock with deeply fluted comb extends to within 3" of muzzle and attaches to bbl. with three spring retained bands. Stock is iron mounted with broad buttplate and sideplate stamped "IP". Right side of butt is stamped with "D" and the lightly carved initials "I+C" are on left sidepanel. Musket retains original sling loops and button type ramrod. CONDITION: good to very good. Metal parts with old, smooth brown patina over scattered pitting. Stock with fine handworn patina at normal carry points. Bore is good with scattered pitting throughout. Musket is in original flint configuration. Lock and bbl. appear to have always been together. Lock is in good operable condition. (01-21443/MGM). ANTIQUE. $3,000-4,000.
