Cal. 8 Ga. S# 3667. The 36" barrels are engraved "Henry Tolley, London. Fine Damascus" on concave game rib with doll head extension. Bottoms of barrels are stamped with Birmingham black powder proofs for 9 bore. Large case hardened top lever action with pivoting third fastener is fitted with front spring locks having tall serpentine rebounding hammers. Action is engraved with about 30% coverage sprays of scroll within a zigzag and scroll borders. "H. TOLLEY" is on each lockplate over small game scenes with spaniel and snipe on left; pointer and grouse on right. Trigger guard bow is scroll engraved. S# is on tang. Round knob pistol grip stock of lightly streaked European walnut measures 13-1/2" over checkered hard rubber buttplate. Point pattern checkering is on grip and a vacant gold oval is on toeline. Matching splinter forend with hard rubber tip has Deeley release. MEASUREMENTS: STOCK: DAH: 2-13/16". DAC: 1-13/16". CAST: neutral. LOP: 13-1/2". WEIGHT: 14 lb. 2 oz. CONDITION: fine. Barrels retaining most of their original brown with some scattered flecking and darkening. Action and locks retain most of their case hardening color. Top lever and trigger guard are brown in color, possibly flaked. Stocks show old oil refinish and are dull. Most marks and dings have been removed. Checkering lightly re-cut.
