STOCK FLINTLOCK FOWLER. Cal. 62. NSN. Bbl. 50 3/4" 2/3 rnd., 1/3 oct., unmarked & has sighting groove filed at breech end. Trade lock w/ rebated tail, serpentine cock, bridled frizzen & roller on feather spring w/ bulbous finial is marked "ALLPORT" "late with" "KETLAND & CO". Lock engraved w/ line borders, cock stamped w/ foliate motifs. Attractive "hand rail" type stock is of what appears to be cherry wood, has sweep to butt & extends to muzzle w/ sm. horn cap. There are raised bead moldings along bbl. & ramrod channels. Old hickory ramrod w/ horn tip held by 3 beaded pipes & matching thimble is of brass. Brass trigger guard has stylized pineapple finial & brass buttplate w/ fancy husk shaped top strap, has some line border & foliate engraving. An oval silver escutcheon is at top of grip & is lightly engraved. There is inlet silver wire surrounding escutcheon. Fancy brass sideplate matches other brass mountings. CONDITION: bbl. dark brown patina. Lock w/ cleaning showing silver highlights. Stock w/ old refinish is sound w/ noted repair in front of lock & some patches at mounting pins. Brass is toned back from cleaning. Frizzen resteeled & lock is operable. Bore somewhat pitted, but has some sheen. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Gary Parietti. (01-19711/MGM).
