Cal. 69. NSN. The 44 5/8" tapered round bbl. is stamped "D" at top of breech end and with proof toward left of sighting groove. Flint lock with rounded tail having teat is stamped with a crowned "D" and engraved "Charleville" in front of reinforced cock. Lock also features inset rounded pan, bridled friction frizzen and featherspring with bulbous finial. Stock with deep fluted comb extends to within 4" of muzzle and attaches to bbl. with 3 spring retained bands. Front band has bayonet retaining spring, midband has prounced lip and rear band has screw for rear ramrod retaining spring, all indicative of this model. Iron trigger guard has short finial, sling loops are present. Left side of butt has proof stamp at rear and carved initials "IXB". Right is carved "F+W". CONDITION: good to very good, original flint. Metal parts with cleaning to pewter highlights over considerable pitting. Stock presents fine original hand worn patina. No major structural problems or repairs are seen.
