INDIAN TRADE MUSKET. Cal. 65. NSN. Bbl. appears to be made by Caywood & Rowe ("CC&R" marked in side of lock), w/ 36" oct. to rnd. bbl. stamped "LONDON" on top flat. Rnd. bodied, slightly arched lock has serpentine cock, integral pan, unbridled friction frizzen & feather spring w/ spear finial. Deeply fluted "hand rail" style stock is of dark walnut & extends to muzzle. Stock is pinned to bbl. & has brass buttplate w/ acorn finial & brass serpentine sideplate, which is relief cast in dragon motif. Return of buttplate & tail of lockplate are nicely engraved w/ rendition of super imposed bow, quiver & arrows under a sunrise stamp which is also found on right side of butt. Trigger guard is of sheet iron. Stock behind trigger guard stamped "B" & "9-99". Hickory ramrod is held by two multi beaded pipes. CONDITION: fine. Retaining near all traditional custom finish.
