GUN. Cal. 12 Ga. 2-5/8". S# NSN (1923). This robust gun has 33-3/8" shoe lump barrels fitted with slightly raised narrow matted concave rib. Scroll engraving is at breech ends. Barrel flats are stamped with October 1923 German proofs. Case hardened Ogee backed reinforced boxlock action features blocked out safety, hidden cross bolt third fastener, side clips, pin cocking indicators on top and double triggers. Action is engraved with nicely cut shaded scroll surrounding rose bouquets on sides. Fences are relief carved with scrolls, acanthus and blossoms. Steel trigger guard is also scroll engraved. Well fiddle figured and somewhat marbled stump European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-5/8" over open sided black white line pad. Inset horn drop points are on side panels and grip is checkered in point pattern with broad flat mullered borders. Matching flared beavertail ejector forend with inlet horn tip has Deeley release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .714. R .716. Restriction: L .027 (IMod). R .020 (Mod). Wall thickness: L .030. R .030. STOCK: DAH: 2-11/16". DAC: 1-1/2"+. CAST: about 1/4" off. LOP: 14-5/8". WEIGHT: 8 lb. 7 oz. CONDITION: very fine. Barrels retaining over 90% original blue with some small patches of cleaned rust and high edge wear. Action retains about 85% case hardening color; silvering on beads and fences. Case color of trigger guard is silvered at grip. Stocks retain most of what appears to be their original finish with some light marks. Checkering shows moderate wear. Bores are bright and shiny with some minor orange peel at breech end of right barrel. Action is tight. Mechanically fine. (25-4457/MGM). CURIO. $2,500-3,500.
