RONGUE OF LIEGE. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 42135. 27 1/2" Dovetailed bbls. with matted game rib are marked with steel type on top, maker's name and address are on upper left side of left bbl. Bbl. flats are stamped with 1925 Belgian Nitro proofs for 2 3/4" chambers. Case hardened sidelock action is stocked to the fences and features non automatic safety, hidden third fastener, bushed strikers and double triggers (front articulated). Action and lockpaltes are engraved with near full coverage British style rose and scroll. Fences are relief carved with oak leaves in small scroll background. Nicely crotch figured and well marbled European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 15" over checkered wood butt. Point pattern checkering is on semi diamond hand. Matching splinter ejector forend with Anson release has inlet silver shield in center of checkering pattern. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .727", L .724". Restriction: R .010" (IC), L .037" (FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: R .023", L .028". STOCK: DAH: 2 3/16". DAC: 1 1/4". LOP: 15". CAST: neutral. WEIGHT: 7 lb. 4 oz. CONDITION: fair to good as partially refinished. Bbls. retaining nearly all of an old reblack with some light scratches. Action retains perhaps as much as 20% original case hardening color. Lockplates are cleaned to silver gray. Stocks appear to have been stripped of finish and have numurous light marks overall. Checkering has not been recut. Bores are bright with frosting toward breech ends and evidence of a few minor pings, mostly in left bbl. Action is tight. Ejectors are in time. (22-4502/MGM). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
