SEMPTERT & KRIEGHOFF ON HUBERTUS BLITZ ACTION WITH SCOPE. Cal. 16 Ga., 8x57 JR. S# 50606. The 26 7/8" bbls. are fitted with claw scope bases, 1-standing 1-folding leaf U-notch rear and silver bead front sights are in full length matted rib with extension. Bbl. flats are stamped with April 1927 Imperial German proofs for 16 Ga. and 7.8x57 cartridge between unique Hubertus type dual lumps. Scallop backed blitz action is stamped "Hubertus" on water table with patent number and use number "1996". Action features nonautomatic safety, pin type cocking indicators, crossbolt fastener and double triggers (front set). Action is engraved with near full coverage well cut large scrolling acanthus which surrounds game scenes. A pair of feeding grouse are on left side of action and pair of running hares are on right. Bottom of action has circular vignette of duck rising from pond over "D.R.P". Steel trigger guard has more acanthus scroll on bow with serial number on tang. Horn capped pistolgrip buttstock of relatively plain European walnut measures 14" over ribbed horn buttplate and features small right hand shadowline cheekpiece, sidepanels with drop points and point pattern checkering at grip. A cartridge trap with engraved springloaded cover is on toeline which is partially affixed with sling loop which matches that screwed to bottom rib. Matching splinter forend with shaped horn tip has Deeley release. Combo is mounted with Voigtlander 3x scope with single post reticle in claw mounts, front with windage adjustment. MEASUREMENTS: SHOTGUN BBL: Bore Diameter: .671". Restriction: .032" (FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: .032". STOCK: DAH: 2 3/4". DAC: 1 3/4+". LOP: 14". CAST: neutral. WEIGHT WITHOUT SCOPE: 7 lb. 8 oz. CONDITION: good, bbl. retaining most of its original blue. Action is mostly smooth pewter gray. Stocks show considerable wear and with added oil over numerous marks. Checkering considerably worn, especially on forend where it is almost smooth. Shotgun bore is bright and shiny with some light frosting and a fairly deep dent about 14" from muzzle which needs attention. Rifle bore is fairly shiny, but shows considerable wear, especially at throat and is lightly pitted throughout. Both sides of forend wood toward tip have been reshaped. Scope retains most of its original blue on tube, ocular bell has about 10% lacquer and is bent sharply downward. Scope still appears to be functional. (22-5418/MGM). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
