Cal. 56. NSN. The 12" tapered round barrel has British proofs at rear and ring turned breech end. India pattern lock with reinforced cock, rounded pan, bridled frizzen, and feather spring with spear finial has stamped crown over "GR" at center with broad arrow. "TOWER" is on tail. European walnut stock with beavertail around barrel tang is pinned to barrel and brass mounted. Trigger guard has small husk finial, brass sideplate with scroll tail is afixed with 7" steel belt hook. Oak ramrod with brass tip mounts through beaded brass pipe and simple hole in stock. CONDITION: fine to very fine. Iron parts show some cleaning to silver over scattered pitting. Stock is quite good with inspectors markings fairly clear. A 1/2" x 1" chip is behind barrel tang. Brass, once cleaned and lacquered is toning to mustard. Shiny bore with scattered pitting, mechanically good. (01-21817/MGM). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
