Cal. 44. S# 159819. Standard configuration Winchester 1866 Lever Action Rifle made in 1883. This survivor is above average, all original, 24" octagonal barrel with full magazine tube, 2-line "Kings's Improvement" address, adjustable ramp rear sight, standard inset German silver blade front sight, straight grain walnut stock, steel buttplate with trap for cleaning rod which is missing one of three pieces. All in all, a very attractive classic Winchester 1866 rifle made at the height of Western cowboy culture with desirable octagonal barrel. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Cody Firearms search form showing date shipped March 13, 1883, and full octagonal barrel. CONDITION: very good to fine overall, smooth light colored brass frame with sharp edges, barrel has smooth plum/blue color, barrel address is crisp, stock is sound & well fit, scattered cosmetic scratches & dings. Some fire blue color remains on loading door & lever spring, traces of case color on hammer & lever. Mechanics are fine, shiny rifled bore. (01-26391/JS). ANTIQUE. $4,000-6,000.
