90 SUPREME (LUX) BOLT ACTION DANGEROUS GAME RIFLE WITH SWAROVSKI SCOPE. Cal. 375 H&H. S# K17335. Made for about 5 years in the late 1980's few were made in high grade. This rifle has 23-1/2" medium weight ported round barrel without sights. Caliber and maker's name are on top. Coin finished action with rear positioned camming locking lugs features tang safety and removable box magazine. Rifle is fitted with Swarovski Habicht 1.5-6X Nova scope with heavy duplex reticle in swing off QD mounts. Action is engraved with full coverage of very well cut and shaded large scroll with acanthus highlights which extends along bolt handle and is found on bottom metal, trigger guard bow and bottom of magazine. On left side of action this fine scroll surrounds semi-relief engraved scene of a trio of dagga boys trotting through open woodlands. This is probably grade 3 engraving, however no references can me found. It is assumed that grade 4 would include gold inlays. Pistol grip stock of dramatically figured and lightly marbled European walnut measures 13-3/4" over black "Sauer" marked pad and features Monte Carlo comb with swept right hand cheek piece, rosewood grip cap and forend tip with black line spacers, sling studs and point pattern checkering. "Original Sauer" medallion is in bottom of grip cap. MAG: 1 (in gun). CONDITION: fine to very fine, showing field use as expected from one or two safaris. Metal showing some light silvering at muzzle. French gray of action remains bright. Gloss finish of stock shows a fair number of marks and dings. Bore is bright and shiny. Action is very smooth. Scope shows some marks on exterior, rear bell with considerable lifting and loss of lacquer on left side. Optically clear. (24-2227/MGM). MODERN. $6,000-9,000.
