1) Gold plated pocket watch produced by American Waltham Co. of Waltham, MA circa 1884. Roman numeral face & fire blued second, minute, & hour hands. Serial number 2495984. Movement number 512639. Exterior engraved w/ foliate designs and a bird on one side w/ matching engraving on the opposite side, also including a small scene of a building w/ a steeple. Gold chain w/ decorative tiger's eye stones & glass impressed side portrait in the Roman style. CONDITION: exterior exhibits mild superficial marks from handling & storage, but otherwise presents nicely. Interior of action side exhibits a small spot of tarnishing, but is otherwise very good overall. Watch action runs appropriately. 2) Pocket watch produced by Elgin National Watch Co. Coin silver construction w/ faded floral pattern engraving on rear. Interior of rear retains a black & white photograph of a woman w/ various numbers scratched into the surface. Lightly embellished chain w/ decorative bridled horse head at top. Key-wound action. CONDITION: metal components exhibit a pleasing mellow gray patina overall, exhibiting light superficial marks from storage & handling. Key is not present and action cannot be tested. 3) Model 4 pocket watch produced by Seth Thomas of Thomaston, CT circa 1890. "Silveroid" nickel alloy construction. Serial number 54074. Key-wound action. CONDITION: exterior exhibits superficial marks from handling & storage, but otherwise presents nicely. Watch face exhibits some losses around the exterior edges, but otherwise remains sturdy & serviceable. Key is not present and action cannot be tested. 4) Unknown mfg. pocket watch marked "REMONTOIR/ ANCRE LIGNE DRIOTE/ 15/ RUBIS" on interior of rear panel. Coin silver construction. Exterior of rear panel exhibits crosshatched engraving w/ a floral motif at the center. CONDITION: exterior exhibits a dull gray patina w/ some spots of darker discoloration. Rear panel exhibits several dents & dings. Action functions appropriately when wound. PROVENANCE: from the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18725/JJ). $200-400.
