RIFLE. Cal. 25 Rem. S# 7271. These interesting rifles were produced around 1910 by Standard Arms. Co. of Wilmington, Delaware. They had a gas operating system that can be converted from semi auto to pump action by turning a valve in front sight base. Mechanical action of these guns was problematic & this example has been altered to semi auto only w/ the addition of cocking slide on right side of action. Area where usual cast bronze operating handle was installed has been altered w/ the addition of nicely shaped wooden forend w/ engraved silver rear mt. Buttstock is of very nicely figured European walnut w/ heavy cast bronze buttplate which has "SAC" monogram at center. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: rifle is accompanied by Lyman tang sight stamped "DE" on bottom. CONDITION: fair to good. Metal parts retaining most of their original blue. Buttstock retains most of their shiny French polish finish w/ numerous light scratches. Bore is dark. Rifle does cycle by hand. (21-3932/MGM). CURIO. $500-800.
